Hello and a warm welcome to Clearwaves Counselling
Sometimes we are breezing through life then something happens to knock us off our feet. It can feel very overwhelming, daunting and scary when this happens and we can feel like we are drowning in the heaviness. Maybe you haven’t been feeling quite yourself lately or a significant life event has left you reeling, or you just can’t quite put your finger on it, but you know something is off. If this resonates, I aim to be your anchor as you work through whatever challenges bring you to counselling. I will provide a safe empathic space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment. I will fully accept you as you are and you don’t have to be ok or put on a smile with me, I welcome your true emotions and its ok to cry, laugh and even swear.
Gaining an understanding of your life through your lens and working alongside you as you navigate your ways through difficulties. It’s not my intention to tell you what to do, but to empower you to find your own answers. I truly believe you’re the expert when it comes to you and I will work alongside you and facilitate the space to enable you to navigate the waves of life.
At times in our life, we may find ourselves feeling lost, anxious, confused, overwhelmed with emotions and we don’t know where to go.
So what is counselling?
a safe space
Counselling provides a safe space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without fear of judgement.
encourages you to be yourself
It encourages you to be your true self and to connect with your emotions fully and its ok not to be ok, you can let your mask down. It’s a place where you can share how you are truly feeling.
empowering
Counselling can also be incredibly empowering as it provides you with an opportunity to really get to know yourself and with self-awareness you can explore what is and isn’t working in your life and how you might like things to be different.
Essentially it’s looking at the pieces of your life and rebuilding your own personal puzzle in a way that works for you. It’s not about discounting any pieces it’s making them fit into your life in a way that feels a bit less heavy.

My Clearwaves therapy room is located in Bodicote, near Banbury, Oxfordshire with free parking available. I have created a space that you will hopefully find welcoming, calming and a safe haven to explore the challenges you’re facing.
I am keen that counselling is accessible to suit your individual needs, so I offer sessions face to face in my therapy room, online via Zoom and over the telephone. I also offer walk and talk therapy as I appreciate for some people being in a room can feel overwhelming and you might feel more comfortable being outside walking alongside one another.
About me
My name is Laura and I am passionate about supporting and empowering people through counselling.
It’s through my own experience of seeking out counselling at a challenging period in my personal life that led me to re-train as a counsellor. I wanted to be able to offer the support, acceptance and empathy, that I found so valuable, to other people experiencing difficulties with their mental health. Because of this I can appreciate what it’s like to be sat on both sides of the therapy room.
I am warm, friendly and highly empathetic and I have been told by clients that I have a knack for putting people at ease. I work very relationally with my clients and I believe the connection between counsellor and client is crucial to the success of therapy. I therefore offer all new clients a free introductory session prior to commencing counselling to see if I feel a good fit for you and you feel safe and comfortable in talking to me. I really appreciate how daunting it can feel to share your world with somebody, particularly when you’re feeling vulnerable so I go at your pace and I will never force you to go anywhere you don’t want to go. I will offer reassurance, compassion and really listen to you.
I have a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and I am trained in Person-Centred, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis theory.
I am a registered member of the BACP British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and I adhere to their ethical framework. I have professional indemnity insurance and I attend regular supervision. I am trauma informed and I have 2 years’ experience of working with a suicide prevention charity supporting people struggling with Suicidal Thoughts, Self-Harm and Childhood Trauma.
In my private practice I have experience working with clients who struggle with anxiety, loss and grief, self-harm, suicide ideation and low self-worth.
I have a special interest in working with survivors of emotional or narcissistic abuse. After coming out of an abusive relationship you can feel very broken down, disconnected, lost, alone and you may struggle to trust yourself and have low self-esteem. You may even believe you’re to blame somehow. I am passionate about helping people regain their sense of self and identity by supporting them to rebuild their trust and connection with themselves and to have a more compassionate internal dialogue of their experience to help restore their self-worth and move forward with their lives.

Services and fees
I work with adults age 18+ and I generally work with clients on a medium to long-term basis, but I am happy to work on a short-term basis too.
Counselling is a personal journey and some people find they get what they need in a few months, but for others they want to dive deeper into their inner world and work at a more in-depth level. You are in charge of your own journey and you will know when the time is right for you to end therapy.
